He is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Lawyers (ABOTA)-San Antonio Chapter and the Injury Board. He is a member of the American Association of Justice, a director of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, a member and former president of the San Antonio Trial Lawyers Association, and a Life Fellow of the American Bar Association. He is a member of the bars of Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and (inactive status) Hawaii and has also appeared in courts in California, Idaho, Colorado, Missouri, Illinois, Ohio, Florida, and Massachusetts.
